John W. Edwards, III is a dedicated leader and visionary in the field of mental health advocacy and social services. With over two decades of experience as a licensed barber, John has honed his skills not just in the art of barbering, but in understanding the unique needs and challenges faced by men of color. Currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at San Diego State University, he combines his practical experience with academic rigor to create innovative solutions for mental health disparities.

As the founder and CEO of Better Cuts Mental Health Alliance, John has pioneered the integration of trauma-informed barbering with mental health support. His organization is committed to providing culturally appropriate mental health services, breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, and closing the gaps created by health disparities. Under his leadership, Better Cuts offers free haircuts, support groups, education, and resources aimed at uplifting, connecting, and transforming the lives of men of color.

John's work has not only provided dignity and confidence to those in need but has also established partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and volunteers to expand the reach and impact of Better Cuts. With a strong background in grant writing, fundraising, and community collaboration, John is dedicated to making a lasting difference in the lives of the underserved communities in San Diego County and beyond.
